Effective 12/31/23
FAFSA 2024 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) has been introduced with what the government terms a “soft launch,” akin to a trial run assessing the application’s functionality. Expect intermittent pauses for technical tweaks during this phase.
The Department of Education will send your FAFSA information to your school(s) and state around late January. This timeline provides ample opportunity to complete the form carefully and accurately during the initial testing phase without feeling rushed.
Once a college receives your FAFSA information, they will provide tailored details about the financial aid available to your student. Until your FAFSA information has been received by your school(s) and state, they won’t be able to address any queries regarding your eligibility for aid or your application status.
For more detailed information, visit www.studentaid.gov (Federal Student Aid.gov). Federal Student Aid operates under the umbrella of the U.S. Department of Education.
Parents and Students: Create your FSA ID now in preparation for the FAFSA. The FSA ID is a username and password combination you will use to complete the FAFSA and manage federal student aid. To create your FSA ID, visit https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
Reminder State Grants: Don’t forget to apply for your state grants!
Completing the FAFSA is required by most states.
